Chip and Pin Reader Cleaning Cards

Chip and pin card readers combine both a magnetic stripe read head and a chip reading contact set. Both the magnetic read head and the pins need to be cleaned. Standard cleaning cards can be used, however we also manufacture a specially shaped cards to improve cleaning of the chip contact pins. The shape of the card allows it to be moved from side to side whilst the card is inserted, meaning a cleaning action against the pins is achieved.

Despite initial belief that chip & pin readers would be less susceptible to contamination issues, the opposite has proven to be the case, and even more regular cleaning is required to keep the equipment working.
